As of July 2017, I am an Assistant Professor of Teaching in Political Science at the University of California, Riverside (UCR), teaching courses in Comparative Politics and International Relations. Previously I worked as Lecturer in UCR.

I obtained my PhD in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh.

 

My main research and teaching interests are on federalism, European/EU politics,

international organizations, climate change and governance. 

My dissertation, for which I have conducted fieldwork in Spain, Germany,

Sweden and France, focuses on decentralization, interactive governance and

income inequality in Europe.

I also obtained my MA in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh.

I have an MA in European Studies from the University of Amsterdam,

where I studied as a Jean Monnet Scholar of the European Union.

                                                                                                                                   

Previously, I studied at Koç  University, Istanbul, Turkey and graduated with a BA in International Relations as a Vehbi Koç  Scholar. I also hold advanced graduate certificates in West European Studies and European Union Studies from the University of Pittsburgh.

My other current research projects include Turkish foreign policy in the Balkans, the role of reputation in becoming a UNSC member, the role of regional peacekeeping in global governance, and a comparative analysis of the impact of good governance on foreign direct investment in Latin America and Eastern Europe.

​

Prior to starting doctoral study, I gained extensive work experience in international policy making and education management and in Brussels, Istanbul and Washington DC (European Parliament & Turkish Industry and Business Association (TUSIAD) & Smithsonian Institution and Sabanci University).
